Časopis, o ktorom malo podľa prieskumu poňatie až 97% ľudí po celom svete, sa rozhodol zastaviť svoju tlačenú formu. Dôvodom bol nedostatočný predaj, a tak sa magazín rozhodol distribuovať len online.
Každé číslo sa v magazíne Playboy vyberala Miss mesiaca, ktorú spravidla obdivovali azda všetci, ktorým sa dostalo do rúk tlačené číslo. The cover showed the actress in an image, which had provoked many criticisms, with a dress of pronounced neckline; but the interior was even more explosive: the Golden Dreams photograph was reproduced as a central poster, in which Marilyn appeared totally naked lying in profile on a satin sheet. ☆In fact, Marilyn had not posed expressly for the magazine: the image it was 1949, when she was a stranger with longer and darker hair, and had taken it for a calendar. Hugh Hefner, owner of the publication, bought the rights in time to exploit the rising stardom of the actress. ☆He died on august 5, 1962 due to an overdose of barbiturates, in circumstances never clarified.
